It was a great day at the Yarn Store!

Had a great day today - more yarn arrived! Yay! Now we have Manos del Uruguay, Artyarns, Zen Yarn Garden to name just a few. I taught a class on the Swallow Hill Beaded Scarf to a group of lovely ladies and then got a helped a knitter get started adding beads to a knitting project. It was one of those days that I just love - surrounded by enthusiastic knittersl

Stay tuned for your next newsletter from the Yarn Store - our new class line up is coming out. I'm very excited about it. Lots of fun classes for knitter's of every level.

My husband has the hockey game on which means a knitting night for me. Still plugging away on Farthing in Donegal Sock from HPKY.

Oh wait.....I've been meaning to blog about Knit Night - we had a great turnout last Wednesday with a bit of show and tell. Sandra brought these awesome Christmas stockings she's making. Amazing, right? They are made from Briggs and Little but could just as easily be made with Cascade 220 which will have in tons of colors.

Wingspan has landed!

I finished Wingspan just in time for the sock yarn sale on Saturday. It just took one ball of Jawoll Magic Degrade in Colorway 0085.0080. Not bad for just $21.59. An excellant project for some tv watching. (Photo 4)

Started on a new project by my boyfriend Jared Flood. Farthing is a lace scarf with a pretty ruffle. It's originally knit from Jared's line of yarns are a rustic wool so I chose HPKY Donegal sock for the sample and it's coming out beautifully. (Photo 3)

We are busy planning what to take to the Creative Show on April 27 and 28 so next on my list of knits is the Linen Stitch scarf from Churchmouse Classics in Koigu. I chose colors P866, P734 and P336. It's going to be gorgeous! (Photo 2)

I had a sneak in the back and saw some boxes that just arrived - Artyarns Luxury Handpainted Yarns sent the most stunning kits I've ever seen, in the cutest tin boxes. (Photo 1)

There's also a big, big box of Manos del Uruguay. Hanks and hanks of it. Hallelujah!

Last week, we met with 2 new suppliers of hand dyed yarns - one is Zen Yarn Garden - Serenity Silk Single. A blend of 75% merino/15% silk/10% cashmere. And Serenity 20 another cashmere blend. Yummy!

The Madelinetosh rep was here too - you all better sit down for this - Madi ordered 43 colorways - yup 43! Two different weight for summer - Tosh DK and Tosh Merino Light. I can hardly stand it - no idea what I will do with myself until June. Fun times ahead!

News...

First day of the March Break down - 4 to go!  It was a busy day with Emma and all three grandchildren.  I meant to blog sooner but was busy with lots of little people.
Today was the first day of the March Break sale - it was notions today - did you stop buy and stock up?  Tomorrow is chunky yarn - we just got in some Misti Alpaca Chunky Handpaints and they are even on sale!
Don't ask me why these photos keep loading on their sides?  I've tried and tried to correct it but I cannot seem to figure it out.  Here is the Fishnet Shawl from HPKY.

Here is the Picot Shawl from HPKY.

Here is the yarn - 6 Color Alpaca 500 yds of worsted weight yarn.  98% Baby Alpaca, 2% Nylon
The new Vogue is in - loaded with lots of knitworthy patterns - there's a whole section on beautiful pink lace - my favourite.
Julia finished a beautiful Shrug as a sample.  It's from the Louisa Harding book Aster.  The exact yarn was not in stock so Julia used SWTC Yin and Yang.  So pretty!

Let's do the......

the Bossa Nova.  A new yarn from Lang made from 78% cotton and 28% polymide.  Broad ruffles that can do more than make a scarf.  We have the pattern and we have the yarn - below are some of my favs!  So fresh and springy - after all it is just 15 more days until Spring!

We have all 7 colorways in stock - 2 balls for a scarf!

What have I been knitting?  Well, it didn't take long to working around yarn again, to develop a pile of WIPs.  Must be the fumes or something.

First we have my Granny Squares.  I've torn out more than I've actually crocheted but I am happy to say that I like the way they are coming along.  It seems I might be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this.
All Koigu Kersti - aren't they pretty?
A store sample of Wing Span - made from Jawoll Magic.  I just love the long repeats of color.  The scarf has a total of 8 triangles and I'm on my fourth.

A possible Knit A Long for the store - it's a secret so I can't say much more than that. Except....stay tuned for the details!

And what is this?  A moment of sibling co-operation!  Jeremy 22 and Emma 13 decided that eggs and pancakes were on the menu Sunday morning!  It went perfectly except for Jeremy trying to flip a pancake in the air and it landing on the floor.  I actually kept pretty calm throughout the whole thing.

The Littlest Knitter

Even the littlest knitters are enjoying our new knitting space. Here's little Sarah working on her Frillseeker scarf with super duper concentration.

Sarah's mom Adrienne is a quilting teacher here and because of the snow day, the girls spent some time at work with their mom. Soooo cute!n(Photo 1)
